Dear Patients,
We are excited to share our most recent publication in EyeWorld Magazine, authored by our own Dr. Kandavel. This is one of the most widely distributed ophthalmic publications in the country. Dr. Kandavel, alongside other leaders in the field of cataract surgery, was interviewed by the editors of this prestigious magazine. In the attached article, Dr. Kandavel shares his recommendations for patient selection for cataract surgery. We hope that this information can be helpful if you are considering a consultation for cataract surgery.
The doctors at the Colvard-Kandavel Eye Center continue to innovate and contribute to clinical research and publications to further the understanding of ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery. This allows us to provide the very latest technologies to our patients. We will continue to strive to provide you with the most advanced and compassionate care.
The Colvard-Kandavel Eye Center is proud of Dr. Justin Dredge’s ongoing commitment to advancing the field of glaucoma treatment and care. Dr. Dredge has recently embarked on a research study aimed at comparing the two most popular types of glaucoma trabecular bypass stents: the Hydrus stent and the iStent inject. This research aims to further understand the effectiveness of these advanced technologies in managing glaucoma and preserving your vision.
The Hydrus stent and the iStent inject are microinvasive glaucoma surgery devices (MIGS). They are designed to improve the drainage of fluid from the eye by stenting open the trabecular meshwork, thus reducing intraocular pressure and slowing down the progression of glaucoma. Both stents have a proven track record of efficacy and safety and are commonly performed during a routine cataract surgery operation.
Dr. Dredge is dedicated to ensuring patients at Colvard-Kandavel Eye Center receive the highest standard of care. Participation in the study is voluntary, and the decision to include a patient in the research study will be made with careful consideration of their individual medical needs.
We appreciate your trust in Dr. Justin Dredge and his commitment to advancing the field of glaucoma research. Together, we aim to provide you with the best possible care and contribute to the ongoing progress in treating glaucoma.
Sincerely,
Colvard-Kandavel Eye Center
